Hello,Just joined and I have a question.I'm wanting to sculpt a SD sized doll, can anyone give me recommendations as to supplies, tools, and what not? I was thinking about getting LaDoll Clay, but before I do, I want to know what kind of tools I'll need and if anyone has any advice/patterns to making a BJD.Thank you so much!
Some things I've learned so far in making my bjd. You need a pattern front and side view of the body and the face. I made mine on the computer and printed it out to scale, but graph paper would work too. Those weird looking wooden sculpting tools you see at the craft store are actually very useful, they can make details and smooth things that your fingers just can't.I can't help you with the clay, cause I'm using super sculpey. But I've heard that LaDoll is very good, especially if you don't plan on casting the doll and need a clay that will stand up being played with. You'll want sandpaper in lots of grits all they way to 800, 1000 or even 1400 (very very fine grit) Start with the low numbers and work up to polish. And a mini versio of my pattern, though this is SD13 proportions, not SD.Hope that helps!
